Oklou

Oklou plays Ancienne Belgique in Brussels on 20 June 2026. Behind the alias is French producer and singer Marylou Mayniel, who threads classical sensitivity through a futuristic electronic palette. Since the mixtape Galore, she has sketched a pop language built from ambient textures, slow-motion R&B pulses and a voice treated like an instrument. Her debut album Choke Enough pushes that line further, circling choices and possibilities with a lyrical clarity that sticks. The opening track whispers “Far away is closer than it sounds,” later asking, “Is the endless still unbound / Or am I just different now?”—fragments that frame the record’s tension between doors that open and close.

On stage, these songs take on a tactile depth: synths drift and tighten, basses stay soft but insistent, and vocal layers slide from intimate to choral. The live show leans on a precise visual world that doesn’t overwhelm the music, but extends it, turning ballads and interludes into a continuum rather than a series of singles. From The Rite of May to Galore and now Choke Enough, Oklou has refined a set that moves in arcs, letting melodies surface, dissolve and return.
