Aldous Harding

Aldous Harding arrives at Paloma in Nîmes on 2 July 2026, bringing the stripped-down folk that has gradually slipped into intimate chamber pop. Hailing from Lyttelton on New Zealand’s South Island, the singer-songwriter first drew attention with a self-titled debut in 2014—acoustic and bare—before widening her scope at 4AD. Party, recorded in 2017 with John Parish, introduces keyboards and discreet arrangements while playing with subtle shifts of timbre. Designer (2019) and Warm Chris (2022) continue this clear trajectory: winding melodies, an economy of means, and elliptical lyrics that leave room to breathe.

On stage, Aldous Harding alternates between guitar and piano, alone or accompanied, favouring tension over showmanship. Her way of modulating her voice, almost theatrical, clings to silences as much as to choruses. At Paloma, we find her where she excels: in precise songwriting that draws its nuances from minimalism, between the slow ballads of her early work and more recent pieces with subdued contours.
