St. Paul and the Broken Bones

On November 12, 2026, St. Paul & The Broken Bones arrive at the Roig Arena in Valencia with their blend of Southern soul and contemporary songwriting. Born in Birmingham, Alabama in the early 2010s, the project is built around Paul Janeway’s voice and Jesse Phillips’s bass, supported by a horn section that converses with a tight rhythmic foundation and enveloping keyboards. Live, their sound crosses soul and rhythm and blues with hints of funk and a gospel undercurrent that sustains the ensemble’s dynamic.

From their debut Half the City (2014) to Angels in Science Fiction (2023), the band has shifted its palette from a rootsy soul pulse toward more psychedelic textures and atmospheric passages, while keeping the focus on horn arrangements and Janeway’s vocal expressiveness. On stage, those elements take shape in tight grooves, call-and-response exchanges and measured instrumental developments, with a repertoire that alternates early compositions and recent material.
