Girls in Hawaïfi

On 12 November 2026 at La Laiterie (Strasbourg), Girls in Hawaïi unfolded their emotional indie pop-rock, sung in English and carried by the voices and guitars of Antoine Wielemans and Lionel Vancauwenberghe. Formed in the early 2000s, the Belgian band has crafted a sound of clear guitars, understated keyboards and supple rhythms, threaded with a controlled melancholy. On stage they move between the momentum of their early material (From Here to There, Plan Your Escape) and the more atmospheric moods of Everest and Nocturne, with delicate electronic textures that dress the set without freezing it. Vocal harmonies answer one another, guitar motifs settle in then grow taut, and the rhythm section favors dynamics over showmanship. A few stripped-back arrangements, inherited from Hello Strange, let the repertoire breathe before returning to restrained crescendos. The concert traversed the band’s different periods without losing the melodic thread, balancing indie nervosity, hushed pulses and choruses with clear, linear lines.
