On December 4, 2026, at Le Lieu Chéri in Bordeaux, Nous étions une armée played a tense, sensitive set. The duo moved forward carried by a voice that speaks, shouts and jostles, caught in a weave of sharp guitars, synths and electronic drum machines. Chiaroscuro writing — a tension between melancholy and vital impulse — the sung words seek balance and reconcile opposites without artifice.
Since the release of their debut album Mais le ciel est sublime en octobre in October 2025, the songs have taken on another dimension in concert. Textures layer, pulses pound, the voice slips through and then ignites, somewhere between post-rock and post-punk. On stage the progression is clear, built in strata, culminating in an almost sacrificial climax. The machines set the trance, the strings tighten the framework, the voice stays the course. A raw musical narrative that favors tension over effects.
