Info
Canadian alt-country singer-songwriter Mariel Buckley plays Beta2300 in Copenhagen on 9 May 2026. Emerging from Calgary’s independent scene, she blends the grit of Americana with folk-rock textures and a slow-burn pace. Her 2018 album Driving in the Dark sketched a darker, more cinematic edge, and 2022’s Everywhere I Used To Be refined the formula with saturated guitars, mid-tempos and a low, unvarnished voice carrying stories of the road, family fault lines, doubt and identities that sit a little sideways to the norm.
On stage, Buckley shifts between quiet, close-up solo moments and a plugged-in band dynamic, letting the songs breathe before they push forward. The set leans on sturdy melodies and late-landing choruses, with arrangements that nod to classic country while keeping a contemporary bite. It’s songwriting that trusts space and detail, drawing its pulse from long drives, small towns and the in-between places where distance, reckoning and connection meet.
