Claus Hempler

Claus Hempler takes the stage on 10 May 2026 at Det Kongelige Teater in Copenhagen. Born in Nyborg in 1969, the Danish singer and songwriter first broke through as the voice of Fielfraz in the early 90s, balancing melodic pop with guitar-led rock on Denmark’s alternative scene. Going solo at the end of the decade, he leaned into classic pop craft and a crooner’s touch with the English-language EP I Gave You The Best Years Of My Life (1999) and the album Charm School for Pop Singers (2004), built on careful arrangements with soul and rock hues.

From the 2010s, Hempler switched to Danish and deepened a more introspective register on Kuffert fuld af mursten (2011) and Happy Times (2019). Live, the focus stays on the song: a deep, steady voice up front, narrative lyrics and tempos that take their time, whether with a full electric band or in a more intimate setup. This concert draws a clear line through his English and Danish periods, letting the writing, the phrasing and the mood do the work.
