Sam Sauvage

Sam Sauvage, originally from Boulogne-sur-Mer, draws a clear line in French pop with a direct writing style where the intimate meets the social and the political. Nominated at the Victoires de la Musique in the “Révélation masculine” category, he presents his debut album, Mesdames, Messieurs !, a record that combines melancholy, edge and a keen sense of groove. His music borrows as much from new wave as from ’80s rock, with a production that is at once retro and contemporary, somewhere between the shadow of Bashung, the nervous energy of Talking Heads and the rhythmic precision of Stromae.
