Jazz Sabbath

On 5 September 2026 Jazz Sabbath will play at Musis Arnhem. The trio led by British keyboardist Adam Wakeman reinterprets Black Sabbath’s repertoire in an acoustic jazz language: piano, bass, and drums, with hard-bop energy, modal colors, and a swing that nods to the 1960s. Familiar riffs remain recognizable but are recast as themes that allow room for improvisation, tempo changes, and concise solos.

Since the debut album Jazz Sabbath (2020) and its follow-up Vol. 2 (2022), the project has moved smoothly between jazz clubs and rock bills, occupying that in-between space where metal motifs and club jazz meet. Live it’s all about the trio’s interplay: tight arrangements that unfold, shifting grooves, and melodies that free themselves from the heavy original without losing their core. The set lets Black Sabbath breathe like a jazz standard, with an emphasis on dynamics, interaction, and a pulse that brings the intimacy of a club onto the stage.
