Joep Beving

On 23 May 2026 pianist and composer Joep Beving will perform at Muziekgebouw Eindhoven. The Amsterdam-based artist, born in Doetinchem in 1976, moves between neoclassical, minimal and ambient. After a detour through public administration and advertising he chose the piano: slow, hushed pieces built around repeated motifs, simple harmonies and a softly muted touch. His home‑recorded debut Solipsism (2015) steadily found an audience, followed by Prehension (2017). He then signed with Deutsche Grammophon, releasing Henosis (2019) and Hermetism (2022).

Beving’s melodies regularly appear in film and on TV; live, melody and silence are central, with plenty of space for resonance. He often performs solo, sometimes with Echo Collective, with cellist‑composer Maarten Vos or with Cappella Amsterdam. Occasionally his concerts are augmented by lighting designs from Nick Verstand and Boris Acket. In Eindhoven he brings his contemplative piano world to the stage—direct and without detours, close to the core of each piece.
