Info
Propagandhi and The Flatliners bring a double bill to The Arrowhead, Calgary, on August 31, 2026. Formed in the late 80s in Manitoba, Propagandhi pushes a strain of melodic punk wired to hardcore and thrash, built on politically charged lyrics about antifascism, anti-capitalism and animal rights. From the brisk hooks of How to Clean Everything and Less Talk, More Rock to the denser, metal-leaning turns of Today’s Empires, Tomorrow’s Ashes and Potemkin City Limits, the band has steadily tightened its craft. Supporting Caste, Failed States and Victory Lap fold technical riffs and heavyweight rhythms into songs that keep a punk backbone while widening the frame. On stage, the band draws on that range with sets that swing between speed, heft and pointed commentary.
The Flatliners trace a path from early 2000s ska punk roots toward a lean, melodic punk sound. The Toronto-area four-piece sharpened their approach across The Great Awake and Cavalcade, carrying rough-edged vocals and front-line guitars, then stretched into moodier contours on Inviting Light before cutting back to a punchier attack on New Ruin. Their sets favor brisk tempos, gang-vocal refrains and hooks built for the room, anchored by a tight rhythm section and writing that sticks close to everyday pressure points.
