Lowertown

Lowertown land in Toronto on May 5, 2026 at Hard Luck Bar. The New York-based duo of singer-songwriter Olivia Osby and multi-instrumentalist Avsha Weinberg write in the cracks between bedroom pop and a rougher indie rock. Formed as teens and first rooted in Atlanta’s DIY scene, they also grew up in early online fandoms, a mix that shaped their way of sharing music and building small communities around it.

On stage, Lowertown often expand to a full band. The songs lean on jagged guitars, taut post-punk rhythms and hushed acoustic passages, with Olivia’s introspective lines at the center. After a run of intense years, the pair stepped back to revisit their beginnings; out of that reset came Ugly Duckling Union, a loose banner for the face-to-face spaces they want to nurture around shows.

The set circles their recent chapters — from The Gaping Mouth to I Love to Lie — and opens onto what comes next. A live moment that keeps the grit and the closeness of their recordings while pushing the dynamics outward.
