Persian Poets – Hip-Hop Night, curated by the Hamburg collective Rapfugees, brings together voices from exile and the diaspora. On 7 March 2026 at Hafenklang in Hamburg, rap, spoken word and Persian poetry will meet — featuring MC Basstard from Berlin, Ayda Rastgoo and Persian-speaking artists from the city.
MC Basstard has been active in German-language rap since 1999. Positioned between bleak horrorcore touches and raw boom-bap, he delivers live sets with forceful flows and striking imagery. More recently he frequently addresses the Iranian freedom movement and has collaborated, among others, with Ayda Rastgoo, Justina and Faravaz.
Ayda Rastgoo, 20, a singer-songwriter and pianist and a finalist on The Voice Persia, grew up musically in Hamburg. Her clear voice is matched by delicate piano playing; her multilingual lyrics build a bridge between pop and rap and lend the evening an intimate tone.
The Rapfugees perform as a ten-member collective: they rap, dance, beatbox and scratch — switching directly between old-school and trap. OmOm & Ila Kha, together with producer Emma.Air, present songs from their EP To Tarikh Benevisid, created during the protests in Iran. Also appearing: Hosain 0093, DayonDal, DJ Jungleboy, Bahador and Lila J.
