Info

Formed in the mid-2000s in Hamilton, Arkells have shaped an indie rock sound that blends alternative guitars, pop hooks and a touch of soul. On stage, the quintet leans into choral refrains, keyboards and brass arrangements heard across Jackson Square, Michigan Left and High Noon, through Morning Report and Rally Cry, and up to the more intimate writing of Laundry Pile. After the stripped-back Campfire Chords and the twin releases Blink Once and Blink Twice, their set now moves easily between punchy rockers, groove-led tracks and acoustic moments, carried by Max Kerman’s voice and the band’s tight interplay.

On June 18, 2026 at History in Toronto, Arkells present a set that spans their catalogue, threading newer titles with early cuts, moving from electric drive to warmer soul shades. Chorus-driven songs, narrative writing and a pop sense of melody shape a night focused on the band’s collective dynamic.
