Alan Doyle with special guests The East Pointers

Info

Alan Doyle brings his East Coast songbook to Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium in Calgary on March 23, 2026, with special guests The East Pointers. First known as the voice and guitarist of Great Big Sea, the Newfoundland singer has carved a solo path that keeps one foot in Atlantic folk and the other in crisp, contemporary rock. His sets swing from salt‑air ballads to driving, fiddle‑flecked tunes, built on call-and-response hooks and stories drawn from coastal life. Albums like Boy on Bridge, So Let’s Go and A Week at the Warehouse sketch a route that’s both personal and communal, with choruses made to be shared and arrangements rooted in trad instruments without sounding nostalgic. On stage, Doyle leads a tight band that leans into rhythm, melody and straight-ahead warmth.

Special guests The East Pointers open the night with their PEI blend of fiddle, banjo and guitar. The trio threads Maritime Celtic reels and jigs through modern folk writing, shifting easily between instrumentals and songs. From Secret Victory to Yours To Break, they’ve nudged tradition toward pop textures while keeping dance-driven pulse and coastal storytelling close at hand. Following a lineup change after 2022, they carry that mix forward, turning tight tunes and clean grooves into a set that moves.
