Info
Alan Doyle brings his Newfoundland roots to Edmonton on March 22, 2026 at the Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium. First known as the singer-guitarist of Great Big Sea, he has built a solo catalogue that folds Atlantic Canada traditions into direct, melodic folk rock. Across Boy on Bridge, So Let’s Go, A Week at the Warehouse, Rough Side Out and Back to the Harbour, his writing draws on coastal life and everyday stories, with call-and-response choruses and arrangements led by acoustic guitars, fiddle and steady drums. On stage he often mixes newer tracks with songs that nod to his years with Great Big Sea, keeping the maritime pulse while leaning into a more personal angle.
Special guests The East Pointers open with a modern take on Prince Edward Island traditions. Their fiddle, banjo and guitar spark reels and jigs that slide into contemporary folk songwriting, as heard on Secret Victory, What We Leave Behind and Yours To Break. Since 2022 the group has reworked its lineup but kept a clear focus on tight interplay and grounded narratives, moving between instrumentals and songs. It’s a set that frames the night in roots music with drive and clean lines, a good match for Doyle’s maritime-inflected sound.
