Tingvall Trio

The Tingvall Trio brings its acoustic, piano-centered jazz to the Kulturetage in Oldenburg on 23 October 2026. Based in Hamburg since the early 2000s, the group unites Swedish pianist Martin Tingvall, Cuban bassist Omar Rodriguez Calvo and German drummer Jürgen Spiegel. The sound is built on Tingvall’s compositions: clearly drawn melodies, echoes of Scandinavian folk, small classical turns and a rhythmic pulse that comes from Cuba.

Live, the trio works with concise forms that remain close to songs while opening up space for improvised detours. Shifts in dynamics, precise interaction and subtle timbres arc between driving grooves and quieter, contemplative moments. Across albums such as Skagerrak, Norr and Vattensaga to Beat, Cirklar, Dance and most recently Birds, this signature has become established: motifs are varied, layered and intensified through interplay.

On stage in Oldenburg the trio relies on this very interplay — melodically accessible, rhythmically focused and united by a close team spirit that shapes the evening.
