On May 5, 2026, Sababa 5 brings their instrumental groove package to the Knust in Hamburg. The quintet from Tel Aviv blends Middle Eastern scales and Yemeni melodies with psychedelic funk and a distinct 1970s Levantine vibe. Prominent basslines, reverb-soaked guitars and tightly interlocking patterns drive pieces that remain deliberately compact while still allowing room for short, focused improvisations.

On vinyl singles and in live sessions the band honed their sound before their self-titled debut was released in 2021 on the London label Batov Records. The core remains instrumental and groove-oriented; occasional collaborations — for example with singer Shiran — demonstrate how their melodic signature can integrate with vocals without losing the pull of the band sound.

Live, Sababa 5 shifts into a mode between club and concert: dense rhythms, precise hooks, and variations that emerge from movement. At the Knust they unfold their tracks like a band's live DJ set — fluid, direct and always melody-led.
