Info

Marillion will take the stage at the MeM in Rennes on 18 November 2026. Formed in the late 1970s in Aylesbury, the band belongs to the British progressive rock tradition, combining a 1970s heritage with a more direct approach to songwriting. Emerging in the early 1980s with a theatrical streak and lengthy melodic pieces, Marillion changed course at the end of the decade with the arrival of Steve Hogarth as vocalist. Since then, the stable lineup around Steve Rothery, Mark Kelly, Pete Trewavas, Ian Mosley and Hogarth has shaped a sound in which atmospheric moods coexist with expansive structures and clear choruses.

On stage, the band carefully manages transitions, builds tension and develops narrative across extended tracks without losing the melodic thread. Their repertoire draws as much from their early years as from recent material, ranging from thematic cycles to more immediate songs, with particular attention paid to keyboard textures, delicate guitar lines and an expressive voice. A pioneer of crowdfunding since the late 1990s, Marillion has forged a lasting relationship with its audience, reflected in concerts conceived as episodic stories that sit between progressive rock, atmospheric pop and contemporary ambient touches.
