Info
Etuk Ubong, a trumpeter and bandleader based between Lagos and the international stage, develops an “Earth Music” at the crossroads of afrobeat, highlife, jazz and spiritual influences drawn from West African religious music. Born in Akwa Ibom State and shaped by brass bands and churches in Lagos, he refined his playing within afrobeat ensembles before leading his own groups. At L’Embarcadère in Aubervilliers on 17 April 2026, he brings together raw, direct brass, repetitive basslines and a tight rhythm section, with vocals in English and Nigerian languages that highlight social and political themes.
Konono No. 1 & Montparnasse Musique, a creation at the crossroads of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Algeria and South Africa, combines the Congolese heritage of Konono No. 1 with the electronic approach of Montparnasse Musique, the duo formed around producers with club-scene backgrounds and collaborations with Congolese singers and percussionists. On stage, the project explores polyrhythms, repetitive structures and prominent bass, blended with choirs and synthetic textures. It is a journey between African urban traditions and electronic pulses, conceived for live performance.
