The Decibel Magazine Tour 2026 touches down in Toronto with Cryptopsy at the forefront. Formed in Montreal at the turn of the 1990s from the ashes of Necrosis, the band carved a path through the extreme scene with a fast, technical strain of death metal that became their signature. Early milestones Blasphemy Made Flesh (1994) and None So Vile (1996) set the tone with complex structures, dissonant riffs, frequent rhythmic breaks and a direct, growled vocal approach. The late 90s and early 2000s pushed further into technical territory on Whisper Supremacy and And Then You’ll Beg, anchored by Flo Mounier’s dense, hyper-detailed drumming, followed by the return of vocalist Lord Worm on Once Was Not.
After testing more modern influences on The Unspoken King (2008), Cryptopsy refocused on tight, technical death metal with their self-titled album in 2012 and continued that line on As Gomorrah Burns (2023). On May 27, 2026 at Lee’s Palace in Toronto, expect a set that moves from early cornerstones to recent material, delivered with sharp interplay, whirlwind tempos and those labyrinthine arrangements that have defined the band on stage across clubs and festivals in North America and Europe.
