Info
Sepultura brings its Celebrating Life Through Death tour to MTELUS, 59 Rue Sainte-Catherine Est, Montréal, on May 1, 2026. Formed in Belo Horizonte in 1984, the band moved from raw thrash/death roots to a heavier, groove-drawn approach. Early pillars like Beneath the Remains and Arise set their sharp precision, while Chaos A.D. and Roots slowed the tempo and wove in Brazilian percussion and a hardcore edge. Since the departures of Max and Igor Cavalera, the modern core—vocalist Derrick Green and guitarist Andreas Kisser—has pushed on with Machine Messiah and Quadra, blending contemporary thrash, progressive textures and percussive passages, with lyrics that tap social and political themes.
Exodus, from the San Francisco Bay Area, helped shape American thrash. Led by guitarist Gary Holt with drummer Tom Hunting, the band runs from the impact of Bonded by Blood through a long series of records, defined by fast tempos, tight riffing and an abrasive vocal stance, grounded in the Bay Area ethos.
From Brooklyn, Biohazard brings a crossover hinge between hardcore, metal and hip hop. Urban Discipline and State of the World Address set their template: chunky riffs, stamped grooves and a back-and-forth between shouted hooks and rap-inflected lines, rooted in New York’s street-level energy.
