Sebastian Marx

Sebastian Marx is back with a new work-in-progress show. Born in New York and now based in Paris, the comedian moves between American culture and French society. His direct stand-up examines everyday life, language mix-ups and the gap between French and Anglo-Saxon cultural codes. In both French and English, he draws on his experience as an expatriate—urban life, dealing with bureaucracy and social relations—to craft stories that feed off the present moment.

The work-in-progress phase is when material is shaped on stage: ideas are tested, bits are tightened, jokes are born or disappear in contact with the audience. Each performance shifts the lines, readjusts the tempo and seeks the best version. People come to witness the process, the surprises, and the small hiccup that becomes a great riff.
