Niff Nawor, a visual artist and musician who was part of Crimson Scarlet, performs under the name Riki. Her synth-pop, both crafted for the dancefloor and elusive, moves in clean or oblique lines, between detached energy and its own poetic logic. It contains nods to Adrian Sherwood’s early productions, 1980s Italo disco from the ZYX label, and classic new wave/pop. Based in Los Angeles, Riki extends her punk and deathrock roots into songs where clear vocals, melancholic keyboards and driving rhythms interplay. Two albums on Dais Records, Riki (2020) and Gold (2021, produced by Joshua Eustis), set the framework; on stage she translates this blend into a more direct live set, somewhere between club and coldwave.
