Finnish comedian Ismo Leikola brings his Perseverance Tour to Montréal. Splitting his time between Finland and the U.S., Ismo builds stand-up from the raw material of language: idioms, double meanings and the everyday misunderstandings that come with them. He started out in Jyväskylä, grew through Finnish clubs and festivals, then took his act international by performing in English. That path led him to Los Angeles, regular spots in comedy clubs and TV appearances on Conan and The Late Late Show with James Corden. His sets probe cultural norms and the distance between Finnish and anglophone habits, and he tunes the angle to the country he’s in. In 2023, he opened for Gabriel Iglesias at London’s O2 Arena before heading out on a solo European run; the Perseverance Tour continues that trajectory.
