Calexico traces from Tucson a singular route between American folk‑rock and border rhythms. Led by Joey Burns and John Convertino, the band weaves songs with dusty guitars and luminous brass, where cumbia, mariachi, jazz and flashes of indie rock intersect. Their cinematic songwriting, born of the Arizona deserts, plays on contrasts: bittersweet melodies, Latin pulses, stories of roads, drifting and crossings. On stage the group unfolds a warm, organic sound, with arrangements that let percussion, trumpets and pedal steel breathe, without unnecessary effects.
