La Maison Tellier

For twenty years La Maison Tellier has been forging a distinctive path in French rock music. Born as a duo around brothers Raoul and Helmut, the band grew into a quintet with Léopold on trumpet, Alphonse on bass and Jeff on drums. Their playground is French-language folk/rock that moves between a fantasized Far West and local landscapes, where country dust, folk ballads and pop rhythms intersect. You can hear echoes of 16 Horsepower, Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy and Devendra Banhart, as well as Tex‑Mex hues à la Calexico, reminiscences of Shane MacGowan and the desert horizons dear to Ali Farka Touré.

Buoyed by their eighth album, Timidité des arbres, Helmut and his band continue a spare, precise approach to songwriting—telling stories of roads, people and everyday life—backed by taut guitars, a trumpet with cinematic accents and carefully crafted vocal harmonies. La Maison Tellier will be at La Clef Saint‑Germain‑en‑Laye on 6 June 2026 for a set that straddles folk and rock, featuring new songs alongside the band’s standout tracks.
