Quatuor Debussy « Le Monde fantastique de Tim Burton »

Info

The Debussy Quartet reinterprets Tim Burton’s universe through the music of Danny Elfman. Arrangements crafted for a string quartet, tight ensemble play, and a resonant choir to broaden the sonic palette. On 19 May 2026 at the Espace Albert Camus in Bron, the quartet unfolds signature themes such as The Nightmare Before Christmas, Edward Scissorhands, Beetlejuice, and Alice in Wonderland. The aim: to make these melodies heard without the screen, focusing on acoustic timbre, dynamics, and the breath of live performance. Scraping pizzicatos, taut unisons, vocal countermelodies: each piece takes on a new guise, alternating between light tension, tenderness, and whimsy. The programme moves from an obsessive motif to an airy waltz, from a lullaby to an unsteady march, always in service of Elfman’s writing and the quartet’s precision. A concert conceived for film-curious audiences as well as for those who closely follow the art of string playing.
