Booder « Ah... l’école ! »

French-Moroccan comedian Booder returns with Ah... l’école! at the Théâtre Sébastopol in Lille on April 4, 2026. He reopens the notebook of his primary school years, contrasts the school of his childhood with the one his son is discovering today, and brings the classroom to the center of the stage. There is no heavy-handed nostalgia, just the raw material of memories and everyday life, told from the vantage point of both pupil and parent.

Between a pupil’s memories and a parent’s perspective, he captures school life: friends, recess, teachers, report cards, and also the bullying that still takes place on playgrounds. Through these snapshots he sketches a portrait of the school system—its reference points, its blind spots—and what all of this reveals about childhood and family life. The small rules, the great fears, the first achievements—everything that shapes a generation appears on stage.

Known for his sketches about private lessons with his son, Booder extends that strand here with a tighter narrative, nourished by anecdotes and classroom dialogue. Unpretentious, he invites the audience to recognize themselves in these schoolbench scenes, to smile at familiar foibles, and to share an evening that speaks as much to parents as to teenagers.
