Papooz

Papooz will be at La Belle Électrique in Grenoble on March 25, 2026. Since Ann Wants To Dance in 2015, the duo has been making its way with supple pop—guitars to the fore and clear, answering voices. Ulysse Cottin (the dark‑haired) and Armand Pénicaut (the blond) met about fifteen years ago in the line for a Patti Smith concert and began piecing together scraps of songs, obsessed with songwriting and melodies that linger. Three albums on, Papooz has settled between indie pop and ’70s reminiscences, with delicate arrangements, understated backing vocals and rhythms that sway without effort.

On stage, the band favors a relaxed precision, balancing lilting ballads with more urgent numbers that give the set room to breathe. In Grenoble the duo will present a repertoire that calls on their beginnings and their recent work, from Ann Wants To Dance to more mature tracks, without losing their taste for bright guitars and limpid choruses. A date to rediscover their handcrafted pop, shaped as much for the stage as for everyday journeys.
