Yannick Noah continues his path as a singer after a champion’s career, with roots shared between France and Cameroon. Back with the album La Marfée, he sets to music a return to his origins that began in 2017 when he moved back to Etoudi, a neighborhood now absorbed into Yaoundé, the capital. By taking over from his father as the village patriarch, he reweaves an intimate bond with his origins. That thread runs through the album’s lyrics and rhythms—between memories, the passing on of traditions, and the present—and gives a clear tone to this new musical chapter.
