Souad Massi

Souad Massi takes to the road with her acoustic folk/rock that moves between intimate ballads and more earthy pulses. Often compared early on to Joan Baez or Tracy Chapman, the Algerian singer has since carved out her own path, propelled by clear songwriting, melodies in Arabic and French, and a guitar that ties it all together. Her songs speak of freedom, dignity, exile and bonds that endure, without grand gestures, with a quiet strength that is most evident on stage.

Recipient in 2023 of the Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik in the Folk-Singer/Songwriter category, and awarded gold records and a Victoire de la Musique, she continues a patient and exacting career. This tour accompanies the release of her forthcoming album, in which she further broadens her sonic landscape, with chaâbi echoes, Arab-Andalusian colours and an acoustic pop sensibility. It’s an opportunity to hear new pieces alongside the songs that established her reputation, in a set that stays close to the lyrics and the voices.
