Liv.e

Born in Dallas, Texas, Liv.e, pronounced 'Liv', has since the late 2010s developed a singular approach at the crossroads of alternative R&B, soul, hip-hop and jazz. As author, composer, producer and singer, Liv.e is part of a lo-fi and free aesthetic, with songs in flexible forms, hazy textures and introspective writing. After several self-released projects and mixtapes circulating in American independent scenes, she drew more attention with the album Couldn't Wait to Tell You... released in 2020, where neo-soul, psychedelic groove, spoken word and sound collages mingle. Based for a time between Dallas and Los Angeles, Liv.e evolves her music toward more fragmented and experimental constructions, while maintaining a strong melodic anchor. Her second album, Girl in the Half Pearl, released in 2023, extends this exploration with a more jagged approach to rhythm, voice and storytelling. In her recordings as in live performance, Liv.e favors shifting atmospheres, tonal ruptures and a highly mobile interpretation, linking soul heritage, hip-hop abstraction and contemporary jazz sensibility.
