The Great Old Ones
Utworzony w Bordeaux w 2009 roku, The Great Old Ones tworzy atmosferyczny black metal osadzony w uniwersum H. P. Lovecrafta, gdzie wybuchy przemocy, warstwowe gitary i bardziej kontemplacyjne fragmenty budują długie, narracyjne utwory. Zespół wyłonił się na początku lat 2010 dzięki albumowi Al Azif (2012), a następnie dopracował swoje kompozycje na Tekeli‑li (2014) i EOD: A Tale of Dark Legacy (2017), przybliżając swoje blackmetalowe fundamenty do post‑metalowych tekstur i bardziej rozbudowanej pracy melodycznej. Na albumie Cosmicism (2019) The Great Old Ones kontynuował to immersyjne podejście, przed wydaniem Kadath (2022), inspirowanego The Dream‑Quest of Unknown Kadath i nagranego z Francisem Caste w Studio Sainte‑Marthe. Obecny na scenach ekstremalnego metalu we Francji i Europie, The Great Old Ones wpisuje się w nurt, w którym literatura fantastyczna kształtuje zarówno tematy, jak i dynamikę muzyczną — między utrzymującym się napięciem, zimnymi przyspieszeniami a atmosferycznymi rozwinięciami.
