Andy Fairweather Low

Born in Ystrad Mynach and associated with the Cardiff scene, Andy Fairweather Low has traversed British pop, rock and blues since the 1960s.
First gaining notice as the singer of Amen Corner, a Welsh group at the crossroads of pop, rhythm and blues and soul, he then went on with Fair Weather in the early 1970s.
As a solo artist, Andy Fairweather Low developed a looser writing style, between melodic rock, roots influences and touches of reggae, on albums such as Spider Jiving (1974), La Booga Rooga (1975), Be Bop ’n’ Holla (1976) and Mega Shebang (1980).
Alongside this discography, he built a long career as a guitarist and backing singer, in a precise, understated register, appreciated for his groove and arrangements.
He is seen alongside Roger Waters, with whom he played for many years, but also in the entourage of Eric Clapton, George Harrison, Bill Wyman’s Rhythm Kings or in The Gaddabouts.
From the 2000s onward, returning more regularly to his own projects, he released Sweet Soulful Music in 2006, Zone-O-Tone in 2013 and Flang Dang in 2023, often with the Low Riders, the band that extends his blend of blues, rock and soul on stage.
