Info
On 21 April 2027 in Leeds, Bess Atwell brings her quietly intense songwriting to The Leeds Irish Centre, with a set expected to lean into the emotional core of her recent work. After a spontaneous move to Canada, Atwell wrote Cut a Figure as a more direct, self-questioning record, tracing relationships, decision-making, and the messy work of naming feelings out loud. That shift translates naturally onstage: less hiding behind arrangements, more space for the voice and the words to land.
Known for indie folk that slips into hushed, melancholic pop, Atwell has always been sharp on family tensions, heartache and resentment. With Cut a Figure, produced with Chris Coady, she turns the lens inward, exploring anger, anxiety and the pressure to keep it together. Expect songs that move from soft percussion and lopsided melodies to moody, Eighties-leaning pop, always anchored by her clear, intimate vocal delivery.
