Info
Aabenraa Live Jazzer presents Kalaha at Motorfabrikken on October 30, 2026.
In addition to being a captivating and high-energy live band, Kalaha is known for being exploratory in their search for musical boundary areas and geographical spectra. Comprised of drummer Emil de Waal, guitarist Niclas Knudsen (Ibrahim Electric) and bassist/computer wizard Anders Stig Møller (e.g., Tim Christensen & Dizzy Mizz Lizzy), Kalaha has managed to create a distinctive universe somewhere between roots, jazz and electronic music.
As a listener, you are at one moment on a blistering, jazzy car chase through the bazaar in Istanbul, and in the next you drift in the cosmic eternity of space, only to land in a dusty village in Mali. Elements from acid rock and improvised jazz to Anatolian funk and acid techno have been part of Kalaha's expression since their start in 2013 and have helped secure them, among other things, a Danish Music Award and a Carl Prize as well as numerous nominations.
Kalaha released Guirca in October 2025, which also traverses a wide range of genres such as Brazilian baile funk, Gaelic folk music and electro-cumbia with guest appearance by Colombian vocalist Mambe, as well as Nordic and jazzy sensibilities.
Kalaha consists of:
- Niclas Knudsen (guitar and talk box)
- Emil de Waal (drums and percussion)
- Anders Stig Møller (bass and laptop)
Standing room. Doors open at 9:00 PM.
