Info
On February 13, 2027, Denez Prigent stops over at Cabaret Vauban in Brest with Toenn-Vor ('Sea Roof'), a concert tour devoted to the voices and stories from the sea. A native of Haut-Léon, he draws on the art of gwerz, those Breton laments with a long breath, to bring to the surface maritime songs, tales of departures and returns, fragments of collective memory.
On stage, tradition is not kept locked away: Breton and French answer each other, old melodies cross with newer textures, sometimes electronic, and the performance preserves this blend of rigor and freedom that has become his hallmark. Accompanied by musicians, Denez lets each piece unfold like a landscape, between ballads, laments and silences that count as much as the notes.
