On February 24, 2027, Dead Poet Society will come to the Essigfabrik in Cologne—and bring the alternative rock that places them between grunge heritage, hard-rock thrust, and noisy edges. The Boston quartet, formed by Berklee-trained musicians, builds its songs around heavy, precisely placed riffs and a rhythm that sounds more like pressure than decoration. Over it lie melodic vocals that don’t shy away from hardness, but always keep the song in view.
After the early EPs (Axiom, Weapons, Dempsey), they set the big frame with -!-: a clear sound, edgy enough to roughen things up, yet direct and focused. With Fission, the whole thing opened up, with more room for dynamics and contrasts, without losing the forward push. Live, this hits the essence of the band: tight, loud, controlled — rock that feels modern without clinging to trends.
