Softcult is the project of twin sisters Phoenix and Mercedes Arn-Horn, who used the 2020 reset button to start a new chapter after years of making music together. Since then, the Ontario duo has been carving out a DIY lane where shoegaze haze meets grunge bite and dream-pop hooks, with songs they write and produce themselves.
On Monday 14 December 2026 in Brighton, at DUST, expect a set built on overdriven guitars, big reverb and melodic vocals, shifting fast between airy, almost weightless passages and heavier, rhythm-driven bursts. Their recent EP run traces that balance: from the raw surge of Year of the Rat to the more direct pulse of Year of the Snake, and the darker, tighter pop instinct of See You in the Dark. Lyrically, Softcult doesn’t hide behind textures: anxiety, social tension and gendered violence come through in plain sight, carried by melodies that stick without smoothing the edges.
