On February 5, 2027, Valentina Magaletti and upsammy will perform at the Muziekgebouw aan ’t IJ in Amsterdam as a duo centered on movement, change, and variation. Magaletti, who treats her drums and percussion as much an instrument as a source of sound, brings a physical approach to playing: texture, pulse, and rhythmic shifts are central, with room for improvisation and open composition.
By contrast, upsammy—the Amsterdam-based producer and DJ with a sharp, almost architectural approach to electronics—joins forces in this collaboration at the intersection of digital and acoustic, with sounds from mallet instruments, small vocal fragments, and rhythms that don’t quite align. Their joint album Seismo frames the project: playful, disorienting, and continually transforming, as if the music happens to fall apart on the spot and is rebuilt again immediately.
