On November 20, 2026 at The Deaf Institute in Manchester, Shearwater and Loma finally share a stage again, a rare chance to catch two closely linked Austin-rooted projects side by side. Both orbit around songwriter Jonathan Meiburg and producer/engineer Dan Duszynski, yet they land in very different places live.
Shearwater bring the more forward, rock-leaning side of Meiburg’s writing: indie rock and folk-psychedelia that can swell from intimate verses into big, widescreen arrangements, with lyrics steeped in natural imagery. Their recent run, from The Great Awakening to The New World, continues that balance of melody and tension that’s defined the band through its shifting lineups.
Loma, led by Emily Cross’s calm, enveloping voice, moves in slower motion: art-rock and ambient pop details, subtle electronics, field recordings, and songs built around timbre and space. From the pastoral pull of their 2018 debut through Don’t Shy Away and How Will I Live Without a Body?, the trio keeps reshaping the same quiet intensity.
Any Kind rounds out the night.
