If you have been following The Coral since their beginnings, you know how much the band loves to blur the lines. Formed in 1996 on the Wirral Peninsula, around James Skelly and his fellow travelers, they quickly found their playground: English indie rock infused with psychedelia, folk, jangle pop, and a Merseybeat scent, with country, baroque, or more lo-fi detours depending on the record. They broke through in the early 2000s with The Coral and Magic and Medicine, and went on to release darker, leaner albums before kicking things back into gear in the 2010s, up to the narrative landscapes of Coral Island and its recent evolutions. On 31 October 2026, at the O2 Academy Liverpool, The Coral will return to perform this blend of oblique melodies, pop choruses, and maritime imagery, in a set tailored for fans of shimmering guitars and songs that take their time.
