On January 17, 2027, Alestorm lands at the O2 Academy Bournemouth with its pirate-flavoured metal, somewhere between power metal and folk, and that knack for a chorus that lifts the room like a drinking-song. Born in Perth, Scotland, the band has built a universe of naval battles, treasure, and well-acknowledged humor, refined over albums such as Captain Morgan’s Revenge, No Grave but the Sea, and Seventh Rum of a Seventh Rum. On stage, it is powered by double bass pedals, with rousing backing vocals and keyboards that give the whole performance a festive edge without sacrificing speed or the guitars. Opening, Battle Beast brings its Finnish heavy/power metal, muscular and highly melodic, with choruses designed for crowd sing-alongs and a central role for keyboards. Formed in Helsinki, the band has released records and toured since Steel, maintaining a taste for direct efficiency and 80s melodies reimagined for arena-sized performances.
