The concept of rhythm, for Ferran Palau, is like the ground, like walking or running. In his new album, Aniversari feliç, he has sought to escape that very real place and carry his imaginary world to an aerial, floating space that remains here, but with a more clouded sense of reality. Ferran has wanted to shed ideas, empty his stomach, and make room to fill himself again with purity and lightness. To feel the songs as blank sheets and return to the origin of the song.
This new work, which will see the light on Palau's birthday, features a production, co-produced with his cousin Jordi Matas, that dispenses with the drums and rhythm, placing in the foreground elements that elevate the songs toward a distant horizon: strings, winds, and reverberating guitars. The lyrics, as always, are abstract, but they do not stop addressing certain themes that surround the cycle of life and death: time, the laws of nature, the seasons, the birth of love, decay and loss. Questions and uncertainties with which Palau coexists happily and in harmony.
