On April 1, 2027, Vieux Farka Touré will be at L’Autre Canal in Nancy. A guitarist and singer from Niafunké, he has progressed since his beginnings with a simple idea: to move the lines without losing the thread. Through albums and collaborations, he has circulated his playing between Sahelian traditions, rockier grooves, and formats that are sometimes electric, sometimes stripped down, always guided by a guitar that keeps turning, insisting, improvising. With Les Racines, he returns to the starting point, or rather to what built him: the Songhai music of northern Mali. A repertoire anchored in traditional structures and melodies, often placed in the West under the label 'Tuareg blues', but here approached as a living material to be reactivated. On stage, this return to the roots translates into a direct, rhythmic sound, where singing in Malian languages sits on repetitive motifs and a gentle trance, between an inherited legacy and freedom of playing.
