Queen is one of the best-known rock bands. The music spans a broad range, from ballads through light guitar rock to hard rock; from pop tunes to songs with a disco rhythm, to symphonically sounding, bombastic rock—you can hear it all. Freddie Mercury shaped Queen like no other, and even though he has been dead for more than 30 years, his band Queen has not lost any of its radiance.
Since 1991 there has been Merqury. The Dresden-based group belongs to the Queen tribute bands that perform with an enthralling show. The program presents a mixture of convincingly authentic interpretations of Queen songs, from "Bohemian Rhapsody" to "We Will Rock You." With a creative handling of the diverse originals, the five musicians manage to convince even true Queen fans. The combination of good sound, light show, and flamboyant costumes marks every Merqury concert.
