HENGE lands on 27 March 2027 at the Brudenell Social Club in Leeds, with its pseudo-manifesto from elsewhere and a genuine taste for genre-blending. Behind the characters Zpor, Goo, Sol and Nom, the British quartet has, for about ten years, been building a sound they describe as 'cosmic dross': an alloy of space rock, psychedelia, electro and avant-pop, carried by nervy synths, a bass that sits prominently in the mix, a motorik drum beat and piercing guitars.
On stage, their music threads its way somewhere between rave and prog, with repetitive build-ups, breaks and a playful, almost subversive energy, which makes you dance as much as it makes you drift off. After several albums and a narrative universe extended even into comics, HENGE continues to expand its mythology, notably with Journey to Voltus B, their latest conceptual album with multiple trajectories. A live show conceived as a sci-fi capsule, yet anchored in the immediate pleasure of sound and rhythm.
