On 11 October 2026 at The Piper (Saint Leonards), Nubiyan Twist return with a new 2026 line-up and a live show built for movement. Formed in Leeds and driven by guitarist and composer Tom Excell, the 9-piece collective has carved out a sound where UK jazz precision meets afrobeat propulsion, soul hooks, hip-hop flow and dancefloor-friendly rhythm.
Their strength is in the band format: tight horns, layered percussion, voices that slip between chant and melody, and arrangements that leave room for improvisation without ever losing the groove. Over the years, Nubiyan Twist have expanded their world through collaborations with Nile Rodgers, Tony Allen, Seun Kuti and Fatoumata Diawara, while keeping the same core idea: crossing genres and cultures with music that feels direct, physical and communal. Expect a set that leans into big-band energy, deep basslines and global textures, with the kind of collective momentum that turns a concert into a pulse.
