Dizzee Rascal will be performing at the O2 Academy Leicester on November 6, 2026. Born in London and raised in Bow, he emerged in the early 2000s from the shadows of pirate radio, initially as a drum and bass DJ, then as an MC and producer within the Roll Deep crew. His taut, often high-pitched flow sits over dry, angular productions, quickly helping to define the codes of grime, between UK garage, bassline and British hip-hop. Discovered by XL, he marked a turning point with 'I Luv U' and then the album Boy in da Corner (2003), a raw, self-produced record that earned him the Mercury Prize. The follow-up (Showtime, Maths + English) solidified his writing and sense of rhythm, before a more pop and dance-oriented turn on Tongue n' Cheek, driven by collaborations of all kinds. In recent years, he has returned to a more directly grime energy with Raskit, E3 AF and Don't Take It Personal, without losing that taste for hard-hitting, attention-grabbing tracks.
